Amrita Choudhury brings 29 years of experience in the field of Meditation, Dance, Movement, the healing arts, Yoga, Dance/Movement Therapy. Born and educated in India and coming from a spiritual lineage, Amrita's education in these fields started when she was a child. Her vast experience and technical knowledge in these fields enables her to travel internationally and offer workshops, talks and presentations. She offers workshops & performances in North America, Europe, Central & South America and in Asia.
Amrita was educated in India and has performed extensive research into the healing aspects of movement, breath work, dance, fitness techniques, & Yoga. She has also trained in mindfulness meditation and integrates this into her workshops. Her meditation, deep stretching, cellular/energetic visualization techniques, breath work & movement, dance workshops specifically address the body and mind; and helps reduce stress, and improve general physical & emotional health. The workshops highlight how through certain breath work, meditations, and deep stretching postures, one can reduce, manage and alleviate stress. The intention is to bring a sense of well being to the body, mind & spirit with care and compassion. Her Dance & Movement workshops equally concentrate on achieving optimal health, well being, physical & emotional balance, fitness techniques that offer flexibility, all practiced with joy!
Amrita has offered workshops in hospitals, schools, to corporate employees, to physically & emotionally challenged individuals, Health Clubs, Dance, Yoga & Meditation schools & conferences, & at numerous yoga conferences and health institutions internationally. She works with children, adults and senior citizens to bring awareness of the power of the body-mind techniques, and philosophies in creating good health, and to achieve harmony and balance of the body & mind. Her workshops and yearly retreats have been attended by Corporate CEO's, doctors, Nurses, students, psychotherapists, and people from all walks of life working in varied professions. She also offers one on one private sessions in person or through skype.
Amrita is an active researcher into the therapeutic aspects of movement, breath, meditation/yoga & dance. This aspect of her work has been supported by the Canada Council of Arts & Quebec Council of Arts. The transmission of this knowledge has also been handed down from generation to generation from her grandfather, a tantric yogi. Her inspiration also comes from her great aunt, Yogini Shree Shree Anandamayee Ma. Amrita is grateful to share this knowledge through these workshops. She is educated and trained in Santiniketan & The Legacy of Art Institute in India, and holds a degree in Anthropology from Concordia University. Amrita travels internationally offering workshops, talks, demonstrations, and performances.
